SKILLS ASSESSMENT & GAP TRAINING PROGRAM

General and Civil Construction

FUNDING | Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ)

If you work in the general construction workforce or the civil construction workforce, and have learnt  skills on the job but don’t hold a formal qualification, the  Skills Assessment and Gap Training (SAGT) program may be suited to you.

Eligibility for the Skills Assessment & Gap Training program

To be eligible for the program, individuals:

 

  • must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or hold a refugee and humanitarian visa

  • must permanently reside in Queensland or be permanently employed in Queensland

  • must be an existing and eligible worker in the building and construction industry who has had a one month or more employment relationship with their employer. The working relationship can be built up through full-time, part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contract worker OR a career seeker who holds previous experience in the building and construction industry 

  • cannot be an employee of any Authority (excludes employees of an Indigenous Council that is a Principal Contractor) [AHC and CPC qualifications only]

  • cannot be currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program

  • cannot be currently undertaking an Apprenticeship or Traineeship

  • cannot be a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of a Registered Training Organisation

  • cannot have previously completed the units of competency for which funding is sought

  • must seek to achieve more than 80% (but less than 100%) of the entire qualification by Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – and less than 50% through direct credit transfer

  • cannot be previously funded under this program in the same contract term

  • cannot be funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this program
